Snow Days

The Week Between

Christmas and the New Year is usually quiet.  This year I managed to get sick the day after Christmas and so it's been exceptionally quiet.  But from my cozy couch I've been surrounded by new books, played with French Tulle to bring an old hat (from Frederick and Nelson) back to life, watched back to back episodes of "The House of Eliott," along with "Breaking Bad," created a slideshow of all my favorite photos on my new photo frame.  Cherese commented that watching the slide show makes her happy, seeing photos of our wonderful friends and family and all the great places we've been over the years.

The pleated pill hat was in the corner of a second hand store.  The label is Frederick and Nelson, once a lovely department store in Seattle that opened in the late 1800's and  closed in 1991.  I shopped there a few times before it closed.  The original tulle was ripped, beyond repair, so I replaced it with vintage French tulle.

Penny gave me this beautiful vintage pin for Christmas.  Here's its new home, at the base of the hat.
